2. Make a Plan
- Our Polk Orthodontics team will take digital images and X-rays of your teeth and use these to create your treatment plan.
- Using a computerized program, we’ll design a personalized series of clear, comfortable removable aligners that will shift your teeth in stages toward a beautifully straight smile.
- Dr. Polk precisely designs each set of Invisalign trays to adjust your teeth to a predetermined location. You can even see a digital projection of your final results before you start treatment.
3. Wear Your Almost-Invisible Braces
- After receiving your Invisalign aligners, you should wear them as much as possible, but you can easily remove them for eating, flossing, and brushing.
- You’ll come into Polk Orthodontics for check-ups about every four to six weeks to get your new sets of aligners and so Dr. Polk can check the progress of your teeth. These checkups are generally quick and painless because you won’t have any wires to check or tighten.
A Modern Approach
Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth. It uses a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligners are made of smooth, comfortable, and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth.
Wearing the aligners will gently move your teeth into place little by little, based on the exact movements Dr. Polk plans for you.
There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners about every two weeks until your treatment is complete.
At Polk Orthodontics, you can reach a great smile without a treatment that gets in the way of your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know that you’re straightening your teeth.
This nearly-invisible option to straighten your teeth is truly changing the way people see orthodontic treatment in Bartlett.
Invisalign has vastly improved over the years and can be used to handle various of simple and complex cases. From crowding to spacing, underbite to overbite, Dr. Polk can use Invisalign can help you reach your ideal smile.

Using Invisalign for Kids in Phase 1 Treatment
Whether you live around Bartlett or anywhere else—as your child grows up, their smile grows with them.
And even with baby teeth, it may be the perfect time for children ages 6 to 10 years old to start orthodontic treatment at Polk Orthodontics.
This is known as Phase 1 treatment. At this stage, orthodontists like Dr. Polk can see issues that may need early treatment to address a developing problem.
About Invisalign First
In 2018, Invisalign released a clear aligner system designed for patients ages 7-10 years old called Invisalign First or Invisalign First Phase.
Dr. Polk can use Invisalign clear aligners to create predictable results and positive experiences for your child while addressing their unique needs.
Invisalign First at Polk Orthodontics can help treat:
- Aesthetic alignment
- A bad bite
- Arch development
- Crowding
- Preserving space for unerupted permanent teeth
Benefits of Invisalign First
A Simple Start
Invisalign First treatment starts with a simple digital scan (no goopy impressions).
From there, every step of your child’s plan is plotted digitally, so you know what to expect.
A Happier Experience
With removable aligners, there’s not much interruption to your child’s life. They can even continue to eat foods that they love.
Plus, the aligners are specifically designed to fit smaller teeth and include space to accommodate teeth that are growing in.
Made for All Sorts of Smiles
Invisalign First clear aligners can fix a wide range of issues, including crowding, spacing, and narrow dental arches.
Keep Your Hygiene Routine
Growing children can continue to brush and floss without the hassle and keep their good hygiene habits on track.
Differences Between Braces & Invisalign
When it comes to Invisalign treatment, there’s a lot to consider. Most Invisalign patients at Polk Orthodontics enjoy shorter check-ups, fewer appointments, simpler oral hygiene, and fewer emergency visits.
However, the system's biggest pro can also be a con—the fact that the aligners are removable. Your cooperation is essential, whether you have braces or Invisalign.
Since braces are attached to your teeth, they do the heavy lifting to keep your treatment progressing. With Invisalign, you need to do a little extra work during your treatment so your trays can complete your treatment.
You’ll need to manage your wear time, keep your aligners clean, and swap them out for the next aligner in the series. You need to be sure that you can do this before committing to Invisalign treatment.
Like with traditional metal braces, Dr. Polk recommends wearing a retainer after your Invisalign treatment to maintain your new alignment and your confident new smile.
