The American Association of Orthodontists and Dr. Polk recommend that your child have their first orthodontic evaluation at the first sign of orthodontic problems or by age seven.
Your child's teeth have developed enough by this age for Dr. Polk to spot subtle problems with emerging teeth and jaw growth before your child loses all of their baby teeth.
Your check-up with Dr. Polk may reveal that your child's bite is on track and that early treatment isn't necessary. Or, she may identify a developing problem but recommend monitoring your child's growth and development for the time being.
